1.) The Messiah will come out of Bethleham
- Old Testament Scripture: "But you, Bethleham Ephrathah, though you are little among the thousdands of Judah, yet out of you shall come forth to Me The One to be Ruler in Isreal, Whose goings forth are from of old, From everlasting." Michah 5:2
- New Testament Scripture: "Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the ity of Nazareth, into Judea, to the City of David, which is called Bethleham, because he was of the house and lineage of David, to be registered with Mary, his bethrothed wife, who was with child. So it was, that while they were there, the days were completed for her to be delivered. And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped Him in swaddling clothes and lai Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn." Luke 2:4-7
2.) The Messiah will be born of a virgin
- Old Testament Scripture: "Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: Behold, the Virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel." Isaiah 7:14
- New Testament Scripture: "Then Mary said to the angel, 'How can this be since be, since I do not know a man?" Luke 1:34 "Now the birth of Jesus Christ was as follows: After His mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Spirit." Matthew 1:18
3.) The Messiah will be a descendant of David (and Abraham)
- Old Testament Scripture: "Behold, the days are coming' says the Lord, 'That I will raise to David a branch of righteousness. A King shall reign and prosper, And execute judgement and righteousness in the earth. In His days, Judah will be saved, and Isreal will dwell safly; Now this is His name by which he will be called: THE LORD OUR RIHTEOUSNESS" Jeremiah 23:5-6
- New Testament Scripture: "The book of the genealogyof Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham:" "So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations from Daviduntil the captivity in Babylon are fourteen generations, and from the captivity of Babylon until the Christ are fourteen generations." Matthew 1:1 and 17
4.) Worshipped by Shepherds
- Old Testament Scripture: "Those who dwell in the wilderness will bowbefore him and his enemies will lick the dust" Psalm 72:9
- New Testament Scripture: "So it was, when the angels hd gone away from them into Heaven, that the shepherds said to one another, 'let us go to Bethlahem and see this thing that has come to pass, whihc te Lod has made known to us.' And they came with haste and found Mary and Jpseph, and the "Babe lying in a manger." "Then the Shpherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen." Luke 2:13-16, 20
5.) Honored by Great Kings
- Old Testament Scripture: "The kings of Tarnish and of the isles will bring presents; The kings Sheba and Seba will offer gifts. Yes all kings shall fall down before Him; all nations shall serve Him." Psalm 72:10-11
- New Testament Scripture: "When they say the star, they rejoiced with exceddingly great joy. And when they had come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary His mother , and fell down and worshipped Him. And when they had opened their treasures, they presented gifts to Him: gold, frankincense, and myrrh." Matthew 2:10-11
