Humbug to too Much Science!

Soo...One of my best friends has been Constantly getting hit with spiritual Warfare by one of her professors...You know what i mean? Where they are so hard hearted and feel the need to throw anything in your way that just might make you question your christian beliefs. I now know what she's going through. Yesterday, my Biology professor made us sit through a 60- minute video on proving Evolution(whihc was a really lame video by the way...there was not one word of it that made sense). As Christians, we do not need to let them get in our way of having a fruitfull relationship with God. Here is why:

1.) Non-Christians who are this hard hearted tend to just Try and Try and TRY to make you believe anything other than that there is a God who created us. Funny isnt it? Most of them as a whole, never even believe in the same things. They all have thier own lists of assumptions and ideas as to what is going on in our world. So they are basically trying to persuade you (like a politician trying desperately to get votes) that thier ideas (not always information that is acurate) is the truth. In reality, It's just Satan using them to confuse us. Just like God and the angels celebrate each new believer that makes a decision in to follow God, Satan and his band of demons get pleaseure out of hardening new hearts. As sad as that is...remember...in the end, God WILL win this spiritual war...and we WILL celbrate his victory. So no need to get too fired up and too annoyed. Just smile, dont be afraid to tell your professor you disagree, dont be mean...show him that a true Christian is patient and loving and that there is no way in heck he can affect your relationship with the one true God!

"God has given him a name which is above every name – that at the name of Jesusevery knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord…" Philippians 2:9-11.

National 4-H Week!

The first week in October is National 4-H Week here in America! 4-H is a youth development club devoted to teaching youth citizenship, leardership, and life skills needed for life! While learning these skills, you have the best time of your life, make the best friends ever, and make some memories that last forever! 4-H truly was the best thing that ever happened to me! So here you go...a Post dedicated to my favorite club...the club that taught me how to give a speech, how to show a sheep, make a mid south winning poster (yes im bragging there :), how to be a sucessful leader, give interviews and demonstraions, in some cases sing and dance, hide from tornados (ha...this is true though), took me on some of the best trips, introduced me to the best friends i could ever ask for (including both my college roomates!), and holds a place in my heart so deep that i tear up just at the wonderful memories.

At the end of Every 4-H event here in Tennessee, we hold a 4-H dance. At the end of every dance...we play the song titled "The Dance" by Garth Brooks. It's the perfect ending to every event. We cry, hug, sway, and sing along to the words as we think about how they remind us of our own journey through 4-H and Life in general. So here are the words (for all you 4-Hers in honor of National 4-H week) to the Dance!

Lookin' back,On the memory of
The dance we shared, (be)Neath the stars above
For a moment,All the world was right
How could I have known,
That you'd ever say goodbye?

And now,I'm glad I didn't know
The way It all would end
The way It all would go
Our lives,Are better left to chance
I could have missed the pain,
But I'da had to miss the dance.

Holding you,I held everything
For a moment,Wasn't I a king?
But If I'd only known,
How the king would fall
Hey who's to say,
You know I might have changed it all

And now,I'm glad I didn't know
The way It all would end
The way It all would go
Our lives,Are better left to chance
I could have missed the pain,
But I'da had to miss the dance

It's my life,It's better left to chance
I could have missed the pain
But I'da had to miss,
The dance

Nifty Things (Rainy Days)

UGH! Its raining outside...there goes outdoor activities and all energetic feelings....Have you ever had some extra time and wondered how to spend your rainy day? Here are a few suggestions!

  1. Take a Nap...No Joke...Cloudy, Damp, Grey, weather just makes us feel more lethargic and sleepy. This is most likely because light has an affect on serotonin in our brain. Serotonin generally makes us happy and stimulated...(awake and a list of other things). But when there is less light (such as at night or a rainy day) you most likely produce less serotonin. Therefore your body feels drowsy. This can even affect our mood. (something cool to remember...people tend to wear darker colors on rainy days for whatever reason...so next time...check out what your classmates/family/friends/co-workers are wearing...most of them will be wearing greys, blacks, navys, and darker shades like burnt orange and hunter green instead of the typical orange and green...weird...huh?) Anyway whatever causes us to feel tired...we might as well take advantage of it! God blessed us with the ability to sleep...and believe it or not...we NEED it! Check out 1 Kings 19:3-8, God actually sent an Angel to Elijah to tell him to Rest. There were a million and one things Elijah needed to accomplish and God ordered him to rest. So take this opportunity while you are already feeling sleepy and take a well-deserved, needed nap!

  2. Read a Book! I love to read...but sometimes getting in the mood to sit down for a long time to read can be a challenge for me. That's why rainy days are the best time to read...you're cooped up indoors, so open that book, curl up and get comfortable, and let your imagination soar! If you cant find a book...Grab that Bible and ready away!

  3. Rain Watch...I cant think of a better word for it...but a soft rain can be sooo relaxing. So if you are lucky enough to have a covered/screened in porch...go outside, cuddle up in a chair/porch swing/corner against the house with a blanket and your favorite snack and just take in the sound, sights and smell of an afternoon rain. Its a great way to to just have "Me" time and think about things. You can also bring your book! :)

  4. Work some puzzles...Whether its Sudoku, Word puzzles, online games, or your regular old fashioned jigsaw puzzles...its always great to get your brain rolling!

  5. Watch a Movie!...For once...you cant feel too bad for being a couch potato when its too wet to go outside! So take advantage of the rainy day with a little TV/Movie time! Afterall...you know that afternoon glow on the TV on normal days thats so iritating? It wont be there today! Woot!

  6. Write...I Like to write (obviously...i do have this blog)...even though im not that great at it! If I can enjoy it...Anybody Can...its a Great way to let out your feelings and explore your imagination! Write a Blog, A short story, novel, poem, anything that speaks from your heart!

  7. Art...Take that time today you have been looking for and create a work of art! I love to paint and Draw! But sometimes...i just dont have the time for it! Rainy Days are perfect time to get on the list of Christmas presents I love to mkae for the family every year! :)

  8. Creative...Really in the same category as above...but some people are a little more artistic/creative in a different area than drawing and paints. Take some time today to catch up on Scrapbooking! I am always behind there! Make homedae cards for your friends and family members for future use (Halloween, thanksgiving and Christmas are in the near future you know!) Make decorative trinkets for your home/dorm/room! You can also get creative with Jewlry Making! Somebody I will post pics on here of some jewlry I have made in the past!

  9. Shopping...Why not? You have to be inside anyways. Your hair is a mess...Your pants legs are wet...why not do something that makes you feel good, like try on some new clothes. If you are short on Money...try going through your closet and creating new outfits to wear out of pieces you already own!

  10. Music...If you play an instrument...PRACTICE today. If not...but you love music...Today is a good day to search itunes for new songs...watch music videos...or stand in the mirror with a brush and dance/sing to your favorite jams!...yes...i do this...all the time :)

  11. Photos...In my opinion...rain has a cool effect on nature...so try going out in your rain gear and taking nifty looking pics of the rain on flowers or fog on the mountians! :)

Thats All For now! God Bless!

In Christ Alone :)

In Christ alone my hope is found He is my light, my strength, my song
This cornerstone, this solid ground Firm through the fiercest drought and storm
What heights of love, what depths of peace When fears are stilled, when strivings cease
My Comforter, my All in All Here in the love of Christ I stand

In Christ Alone, who took on flesh Fullness of God in helpless babe
This gift of love and righteousness Scorned by the ones He came to save
'Til on that cross as Jesus died The wrath of God was satisfied
Forevery sin on Him was laid Here in the death of Christ I live

There in the ground His body lay Light of thw world by darkness slain
Then bursting forth in glorious day Up from the grave he rose again
And as He stands in victory Sin's curse has lost its grip on me
For I am His and He is mine Bought with the precious blood of Christ

In Christ alone I place my trust And find my glory in the power of the cross
In every victory let it be said of me My source of strength My source of hope
In Christ alone I place my trust And find my glory in the power of the cross
In every victory let it be said of me My source of strength My source of hope

In Christ alone No guilt in life, no fear in death This is the power of Christ in me
From life's first cry to final breath Jesus commands my destiny
No power of hell, no scheme of man Can ever pluck me from His Hand '
til He returns or calls me home Here in the power of Christ I'll stand.

Version by Phillips, Craig, and Dean

A Hint of Inspiration :)

Sooo...this song inspires me so uch i just felt like sharing it! Its called "You Never Let go" and its easily one of my favorites...look it up! :) there are mutiple versions of it with different people singing it on itunes.

Even though I walk through the valley of the Shadow of Death,
your perfect love is casting out fear.
Even When im caught in the middle of the storms of this life,
I wont turn back, I know you are near.
I will fear no evil, For My God is with Me,
If My God is with me, whom then shall I fear?
whom then shall I fear?

Oh No! You never let go!
Through the calm and through the Storm,
Oh No! You never let go!
in every high and every low!
Oh No! You never let go!
Lord, You never let go f me!

I Can see the Light that is coming from the Heart that holds on,
A glorious light beyond all compare.
And there will be end to these troubles, but until that day comes
I will live to know you here on the Earth.
I will fear no evil, For My God is with me.
And if My God is with me, whom then shall I fear?
Whom then shall I fear?

Oh No! You never let go!
Through the calm and through the storm!
Oh no! you never let go!
In every high and every low!
Oh No! you never let go!
Lord, you never let go o me!

And I can see a light that is coming from the heart that holds on!
There will be an End to these troubles, but until that day comes...
Still Iwill Praise You!
Still I will Praise You!
And I can see a light that is coming from the heart that holds on!
There will be an endto these troubles, but until that day comes...
Still I will Praise You!
Still I will Praise You!

Singing, Oh No! Never Let go!
Through the calm and through the storm!
Oh No! Never let go!
In every high and every low!
Oh No! Never let go!
Lord, Never let go of me!

You Keep on coming and you never let go! Oh Lord!

Singing, Oh No! You never let go!
Through the calm and through the storm!
Oh No! you never low!
every high! an every low!
Oh No! you never let go!
Lor you never let go of me!

You never let go of me!
Never let go of me!!

Well....I really like that song...and i thought i would share...i found this Picture online...and it reminded me of the song...not a great quality...but still a great illustration for the song :)

A Misconception of Faith

I was reading some Devotionals and I was inspired to post this blog. There are too many misconceptions of Christianity in our world. It's easy to fall into these traps and make wrong assumptions about Faith and what it means. However, when studying the Scriptures from the Bible we can have a better understanding of What Faith is. I would Like to address A Misconception of Faith that I feel is the Biggest posing threat to becoming a Christian.

If you are a good person, God loves you and will accept you into heaven./ You don't have to be a Christian to go to Heaven.

While it IS true that God loves us all, it is NOT true that God can accept you if you are not a born again Christian. This always gets a lot of criticism in our world. While it is nice that you are a good person, God makes it clear through scripture what it means to be a Christian. In the Bible we are told that all have sinned and fall short of the Glory of God. We are all sinners, every single one of us. None of us are "good," and most certainly not "good" enough to get to God. That is why God sent his son, Jesus, to die for us. Without Jesus, there is no way to God, because we have sinned. Further, God cannot accept you if you reject him, even if you are a good person, because God is Holy and perfect. He turns his head from sin. This is demonstrated when Jesus is on the cross bearing all our sins on his shoulders. He cries out to God asking why God had Forsaken Him, or turned away from Him. Through the sacrifice of Jesus, we have the chance to one day enter God's Holy and perfect kingdom. But No matter how hard we try, we cannot get to God through good works alone. Take a look at these verses from the New Testament:

"for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of
God" Romans 3:23

"As it is written, there is none righteous, no, not one...they all have
turned aside; They together have become unprofitable; there is none who
does good, no, not one." Romans 3:10, 12

"But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the spirit of
God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the spirit of Christ, he is
not His. And if Christ is in you, the body is dead because of
sin, but the spirit is life because of righteousness...For if you live according
to the flesh you will die, but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of
the body, you will live." Romans 8:9-10, 13

"But the scripture has confirmed all under sin, that the promise by faith
in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe." Galatians 3:22

"For by Grace, you have been saved though Faith, and that not of
yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast." Ephesians 2:8-9

"He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not Know Him. He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him. But as many as received Him, to them he gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God" John 1:10-13

These are just a few of MANY verses in the Bible that talk about sin and salvation. Wat do you think about the good works of man now? Now lets see what Jesus himself says...

"Therefore whoever confesses Me before men, him I will also confess before My Father who is in heaven. But whoever denies Me before men, him i will also deny before My Father who is in heaven." Matthew 10:32

"Jesus answered and said to him, 'Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the Kingdom of God" John 3:3

"Jesus said to him,'I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life, no one comes to the Father, except through Me." John 14:6

"I am the good Shepherd, the good Shepherd gives his life for the sheep." John 10:11

"I am the door, if anyone enters by me, he will be saved and he will go in and out and find pasture." John 10:9

"Jesus said to her,'I am the Resurrection and the Life, any one who believes in me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?' John 11:25

Once again;...these are just a FEW verses from scripture where Jesus explains
salvation. The Bible is Clear, the only way to God is through Jesus
Christ, not good works. So keep feeding the poor and loving your neighbor
as yourself, BUT do NOT neglect to love, accept, and confess the one who Died
for you so that YOU will know God! He is the ONLY way!

He IS who he says he is.

Is Jesus really the son of God? Scary question huh? But Can we really JUST believe what the New Testament tells us? I believe we absolutely CAN! Jesus fufills s many prophesies in the New Testament...its hard for me to NOT believe in him. Here are some examples...

1.) The Messiah will come out of Bethleham

  • Old Testament Scripture: "But you, Bethleham Ephrathah, though you are little among the thousdands of Judah, yet out of you shall come forth to Me The One to be Ruler in Isreal, Whose goings forth are from of old, From everlasting." Michah 5:2
  • New Testament Scripture: "Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the ity of Nazareth, into Judea, to the City of David, which is called Bethleham, because he was of the house and lineage of David, to be registered with Mary, his bethrothed wife, who was with child. So it was, that while they were there, the days were completed for her to be delivered. And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped Him in swaddling clothes and lai Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn." Luke 2:4-7

2.) The Messiah will be born of a virgin

  • Old Testament Scripture: "Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: Behold, the Virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel." Isaiah 7:14
  • New Testament Scripture: "Then Mary said to the angel, 'How can this be since be, since I do not know a man?" Luke 1:34 "Now the birth of Jesus Christ was as follows: After His mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Spirit." Matthew 1:18

3.) The Messiah will be a descendant of David (and Abraham)

  • Old Testament Scripture: "Behold, the days are coming' says the Lord, 'That I will raise to David a branch of righteousness. A King shall reign and prosper, And execute judgement and righteousness in the earth. In His days, Judah will be saved, and Isreal will dwell safly; Now this is His name by which he will be called: THE LORD OUR RIHTEOUSNESS" Jeremiah 23:5-6
  • New Testament Scripture: "The book of the genealogyof Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham:" "So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations from Daviduntil the captivity in Babylon are fourteen generations, and from the captivity of Babylon until the Christ are fourteen generations." Matthew 1:1 and 17

4.) Worshipped by Shepherds

  • Old Testament Scripture: "Those who dwell in the wilderness will bowbefore him and his enemies will lick the dust" Psalm 72:9
  • New Testament Scripture: "So it was, when the angels hd gone away from them into Heaven, that the shepherds said to one another, 'let us go to Bethlahem and see this thing that has come to pass, whihc te Lod has made known to us.' And they came with haste and found Mary and Jpseph, and the "Babe lying in a manger." "Then the Shpherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen." Luke 2:13-16, 20

5.) Honored by Great Kings

  • Old Testament Scripture: "The kings of Tarnish and of the isles will bring presents; The kings Sheba and Seba will offer gifts. Yes all kings shall fall down before Him; all nations shall serve Him." Psalm 72:10-11
  • New Testament Scripture: "When they say the star, they rejoiced with exceddingly great joy. And when they had come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary His mother , and fell down and worshipped Him. And when they had opened their treasures, they presented gifts to Him: gold, frankincense, and myrrh." Matthew 2:10-11

How Bad can you Hate someone??

Ok...so the Tile is a little bit odd because we all know we are not supposed to HATE people...but it fits what i want to say. Last Weekend Dr. Alan Reid was a guest speaker at my church (Sevier Heights Baptist of Knoxville). He told us about A hard core atheist who was a...magician...i think. We actually watched a video that the athiest had posted on youtube. Anyway, after one of his shows, a man came up to him, looked him straight in the eyes, handed him a Bible and told him he needed Jesus and he would pray for him. Then he smiled and walked away. This man had a HUGE affect on the Athiest. Although it didnt change his life, or cause him to decide there was a God, it did leave a mark on his heart. He couldnt believe there was "Christain" out there that would care about him, and not "shove thier religion down his throat." He appreciated how genuine the man was and how he looked him right in the eyes. He then went on to say smething that struck me HARD. He said...

"if you believe without a doubt that there is a God, and there is a Heaven and
Hell, then How bad would you have to hate someone to NOT tell them the truth
and spare them from an eternity in Hell."

This Athiest (suprisingly) has the right idea! So many times we get caught up in going to church and praying before we eat and being "good christians" that we forget to "spread the word." As Christians, we are commanded to go out into all nations and tell the good news of Jesus! Dont get me wrong, it's important to go to church and try to be good, but we should also be whitnessing to everybody around us.

I never would have thought that not telling somebody about Jesus meant that i hated them! Thats crazy! But is it really? The one and only way to God (and Heaven and the most amazing and wonderful eternity anybody could possibly EVER imagine worshiping the creator of life!) is through Jesus and the alternative is not a pretty outcome...it's awful really. So how much could you hate somebody to not tell them? And that goes for everybody, even your enemies. Surely, you dont dislike even them enough to want them to endure something as awful as eternal seperation from God. it's a very scay thing.

Anyway, I feel this is an important message! Im still trying to take it in and figure out how to most effectively whitness to everybody around me. I know one of the best ways is to just be a good example in your everyday life. Have a great attitude and show the world that you are different...because you are...you have Christ (the Holy Spirit) living inside you! So let it show! Smile to everybody and work on having such a positive attitude that nobody can ever not see your light shine! It's not as easy as it sounds...but it's deffinately my goal in life!

That's all for now! Remember...Our God Lives..and Saves...so get the word out!! It's meant to be shared! ~God Bless~
